To save future me from a headache, these are the installation instructions:
- When the SSL expires, I will need to create a folder under xampp/htdocs named .well-known/pki-validation, and place a text file inside it.
- Then, once it’s verified, Namecheap (or other domain provider) will allow me to download the new SSL cert files.
- Because I had SSL files inside xampp/htdocs/blog/wp-includes, I was confused. The files need to go under xampp/apache/ssl.
- There are 4 files here. 3 remained the same, while the “www_rydahtrading_com” Security Certificate file is replaced with the new one. Then, apache can be restarted and it will work.
- Note that there was a lot of headache involved in editing the text files initially as well. This is done but in the future on a new system this headache may have to be met again.
